Test the alert chain by letting it fail
A paid responder can receive a phone call, text message, app notice, or webhook. The team can set a schedule for who is responsible and decide what happens if that person does not respond.
This is called escalation. In normal language, Better Stack calls the person on duty. If they do not accept the incident within the set time, it calls the next person or the whole team.
The only useful trial is a planned failure. Create a test service or monitor, then make it return an error. Check how long the first alert takes. Let the first person ignore it and confirm that the second person is contacted. Accept it, hand it to someone else, and close it.
Run the test at the time and on the phones the team will really use. Check quiet mode, weak reception, and a person who is signed out of Slack. A perfect dashboard is not helpful if the notice does not break through at 2 a.m.

The rest of the bill depends on use. Faster checks, browser tests, extra pages, more subscribers, log and trace volume, longer retention, private access, reports, and security controls can all change the total.
Use one normal week to forecast it. Record the number of responders, monitors, browser-test minutes, pages, subscribers, and data sent each day. Include the retention period the team actually needs. Then add room for a busy week and compare that full number with the current tools.
